Senior Parishioners
Here at St. Ambrose, it is our privilege to offer Christ’s preferential attention to senior parishioners in need of the companionship and assistance of the local community.
Shepherd's Center of Fairfax-Burke
The center partners with individuals, faith communities, civic groups, and local government to meet the needs of older adults in the Fairfax and Burke areas of Northern Virginia. SCFB provides life enrichment opportunities and life support services for older adults so they can continue to live independently with a sense of purpose and dignity. SCFB programs are planned and executed by older adult volunteers. SCFB empowers its volunteers to use their talents and skills to help their peers in the community. Life Enrichment programs include Lunch N'Life (bi-monthly luncheons with speakers or entertainment and time for social networking), Adventures In Learning (a full day of classes-current events, art, history, literature, health, exercise-and time for social networking, offered for six consecutive weeks in the Spring and Fall), and Wednesday at the Movies (an informal group meets at a local theatre to see and discuss a film).
