Parish Pantry
Christ recognizes our need for real food by giving himself to us in the Sacrament of the Eucharist as bread and wine. After being fed here first, St. Ambrose parishioners can in turn feed those who crave both his nourishment and practical care.
Parishioners are encouraged to help with the following on-going efforts to feed our hungry neighbors.
Meals at Christ House: St. Ambrose parishioners prepare and serve meals at Christ House every first Sunday of the even months and every third Monday of the odd months. We are looking for adults who are interested in volunteering as substitutues. Thank you to our parishioners who have supported us financially over the years. Donation envelopes may be found in the back of the church for those who would like to help this mission. If you are interested in helping to prepare and serve these meals or to make a donation to cover the costs, please contact Laura Mead at lmead@stambroseva.org
F.I.S.H. and Christ House Monthly Food Collection: Volunteers advertise the collection and help with the collection of non-perishable foods after all masses on the third weekend of each month. Contact Maureen Hafner at 703-573-5170.
Social Justice/Community Outreach Committee: Open to all parishioners who are looking for a way to serve the material needs of our local community but do not know how to get involved. This committee seeks to work with organizations such as Catholic Charities, F.I.S.H., S.O.M.E., and the Shepherd's Center of Fairfax-Burke to provide various services, bringing relief to those who are in need.
