The Risen Christ in our midst is the “firstborn of the dead” (Col 1:18). Through the light of his Resurrection, St. Ambrose parishioners can offer their hope and care for those who grieve the loss of a loved one.
Parishioners are encouraged to call a parish priest first when a family member has died, even before the funeral director or cemetery manager. The priests can offer the consolation of the Church, and guidance on the Funeral Mass and burial in the sacred grounds of a cemetery.
Vigils, or wakes, in the Church are welcome at St. Ambrose. The rectory staff can help you coordinate the Funeral readings, music and hospitality after the burial.
Parishioners who would like to participate in the St. Ambrose bereavement ministry can help by:
-attending the Vigil, Funeral and Burial on behalf of the parish community
-praying for the deceased and their loved ones
-serving as ushers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at Funerals
-following up with bereaved family members, especially during the first year

Gabriel Project...Helping pregnant women in need
Pregnant? Need help? Gabriel Project:
- Central toll-free helpline: 1-866-444-3553
- Confidential needs assessment
- Parish "Angel" friend for support (see below)
- Pre-natal care assistance
- Additional help from parish ministries, Catholic Charities, crisis pregnancy centers and other community resources
St. Ambrose participates in this diocesan program of the Office of Family Life. The Gabriel Project is a parish-based pregnancy assistance outreach that offers practical, emotional, and spiritual support to expectant mothers. St. Ambrose is looking for women of faith to walk alongside pregnant women offering friendship, encouragement, and prayer. Trained Gabriel "Angel" volunteers connect moms to free or low-cost resources such as material items, childbirth classes and moms groups to help them as they prepare for motherhood.

Meals at Christ House:
St. Ambrose parishioners prepare and serve meals at Christ House every first Sunday of the even months and every third Monday of the odd months. We are looking for adults who are interested in volunteering as substitutes. Thank you to our parishioners who have supported us financially over the years. Donation envelopes may be found in the back of the church for those who would like to help this mission. If you are interested in helping to prepare and serve these meals or to make a donation to cover the costs.
