Knights of Columbus
The Knights council at St. Ambrose was founded in 1983. It is one of over 14,000 councils in the Knights of Columbus. This world-wide Catholic, family, pro-life, and fraternal service organization is open to practicing Catholic men age 18 or over. At St. Ambrose, the Knights’ goal is to support our Priests, parish, school and surrounding community. They organize parish workdays and undertake other parish maintenance projects. They contribute to hospitality through Pancake Breakfasts, Spaghetti Dinners, Sunday Coffees and other social events. They sponsor school and youth activities such as the annual Ice Cream Social at the start of the school year and the Basketball Free Throw competition. They help those in need through the sale of religious Christmas cards to support Christ House in Alexandria and the annual KOVAR campaign to raise funds to aid Virginians with intellectual disabilities. With proceeds from an annual fundraiser, they contribute to St. Ambrose Parish and School, seminarians of Arlington Diocese, pregnancy-assistance centers, priests' intentions and others. Overall, they strive to have a varied program of activities in support of Church, Family, Youth, Community, Culture of Life and Council. Active membership in Ambrose Council provides members with many opportunities to practice their faith, form friendships with like-minded men, and make connections with parish families.
