“Even the greatest champion finds himself defenseless before the fundamental questions of life and needs your light to overcome the demanding challenges that a human being is called to face. Lord Jesus Christ, help these athletes to be your friends and witnesses to your love.”

CYO & Scouting

Sports provide St. Ambrose's young people and their families the opportunity to pursue authentic teamwork, competition and fair play.

The JCYO Sports Program provides a competitive basketball and trackprogram for Catholic youth between 4th and 8th grades.  Similar to other sports programs except this provides an environment where sportsmanship and prayer are more important than winning.  The cost of the program varies depending  what sport you are in. The program is completely run by volunteers. All volunteers MUST BE compliant with the Child Protection Program of the Arlington Diocese to work with youth.

Scouting

Boy Scout Troop aims to provide the youth of St. Ambrose Parish an opportunity to be a part of the Boy Scouts of America. The Troop is open to both Catholic and non-Catholic boys between the ages of 11 and 18, who are looking for fun and adventure.

Cub Scouting is designed to serve the same basic purposes as the Boy Scouts of America: training in citizenship; providing for growth of moral strength and character; and enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional fitness of each member. St. Ambrose Pack strives to teach each member to live by the Cub Scout motto: Do Your Best.

Prayer for athletes

Thanks, Lord, for giving me life, and talents for my participation in sports. Help me to play well, to use my powers to the full, to see them as gifts from you....Help me play with heart, and never lose heart. Most of all, help me never to quit in my efforts to be open to you. For I believe your full coming into my life is the way to real life, in all I do; I believe it is the way of my becoming the truly human person you destined me to be. Amen.
